What is a hackathon?
Hackathons are awesome events full of creativity, technology and passionate tech-related students collaborating and creating. Attendees work in teams to create apps, games, robots… literally anything you want to build & learn about!
What is HackUPC?
HackUPC is the first student hackathon in Spain. This will be our fifth edition with 700 awesome hackers and lots of side activities to learn new technologies, meet interesting people and have fun. Come make history with us!
When is HackUPC?
Registration for HackUPC will open at 3:00PM. The opening ceremony starts at 7:00PM Friday October 19th. We expect to finish by 5:00PM on Sunday 21st.
How much does it cost?
HackUPC is free for all accepted hackers. We will provide you WiFi, meals, swag, and workspace.
What can I build?
Web, mobile, hardware, anything is on the table. Projects will be judged based on creativity, technical difficulty, polish and usefulness by a panel of industry judges and UPC faculty.
Will there be travel reimbursements available?
Yes! We are giving up to 50€ if you’re travelling from Spain and up to 100€ if you’re travelling from outside of Spain. We want to give to all of you the opportunity of joining us! However, please be aware that not all participants will be elegible to receive a travel reimbursement.
What if I don't have a team?
No need to worry! Part of the fun of a hackathon is meeting new people. We will have time at the beginning of the event for everyone to meet and form teams.
Where is it being held?
HackUPC will take place in UPC's North Campus FIB buldings (A3, A4, A5 and A6) in sunny Barcelona.
What should I bring?
All attendees must bring a valid government ID for admission. Other common checklist items include: laptops, chargers, adapters, sleeping bags and toiletries. If you want to shower, bring a towel!

Who can attend?
Students from universities and high schools from all around the world.
What if I am not a student?
We accept students up to 1 year after graduation. You can also join us as a mentor! Apply here!
Do you have a code of conduct?
Yes. TL;DR: Be respectful, harassment and abuse are never tolerated.
How big can teams be?
Teams of up to four are welcome. You can also hack solo if you want!
How can I become a volunteer?
We have alredy closed applications for being a volunteer this edition. We would love to see you on HackUPC 2019. Stay tuned on our Social Media!
